Recommended game to play: Yoshi’s Crafted World – Multiplayer Couch Co-op | Nintendo Switch

Looking for fun colorful action adventure couch co-op game where you can play together with kids, siblings, couple, friends or family? Try playing Yoshi’s Crafted World. Released back in March 2019 for Nintendo Switch, the game is still great to play this day if you never played it before. Yoshi’s Crafted World is made to be played for everyone – from kids who are learning to play games to adults who want something relaxing to play on. No fighting, no politics, no bloody scenes, it’s just stomping and swallowing your enemies.

Yoshi’s Crafted World: Story & The Game Features

The story begins when Kamek and Baby Bowser come to Yoshi’s island after knowing that Yoshis’ have Sundream Stone – a stone that consist of 5 gemstones that legend says it can make anyone’s wildest dream come true. Kamek and Baby Bowser try to take the Sundream Stone away from Yoshis. Yoshis try their best to defend the Sundream Stone before finally all the gemstones fall apart into different places.

That’s where the game begin. Yoshi’s Crafted World can be played 2 players and you can choose from different color of Yoshis.

The game features main story mode as well as side quest and flip-side. On side quest, typically you’ll be asked to find certain items on the area, while flip-side, the quest is for you to find and collect Poochy Pup (the cute dog inside Yoshi’s game) within the time limit. To proceed to the next level, Yoshi (you) have to collect the smiley flowers while collecting the missing gemstones.

Have a look at the official game trailer here – I bet you’ll instantly love this game:

These are Yoshi’s Crafted World game features:

  • There is only 1 mode in the game: Story mode, however there are side quest and flip-side quest on each of the stages.
  • The game contains 21 levels (1 level can have multiple stages) and 3 bonus stages – bonus stages appear only after you defeat the final Boss.
  • Each stage contains different challenges – if you play 2 players, good teamwork will definitely help.
  • Each level has gacha (capsule-toy vending machine) where you can exchange your collected in-game coins to random costumes.
  • There are normal, rare and super rare costumes to collect.
  • Costume can be used during game to protect Yoshi from getting hit by the enemies.

Reason why I love this game

My wife – who is casual gamer – and I are looking for another multiplayer adventure game that is fun to play. Having played Yoshi’s Woolly World before in Nintendo Wii U, I looked for Yoshi’s title for Nintendo Switch and found this game. After seeing the official trailer (video above), we both fell in love with the game and played it. The rest were history.

Though I would say, compared to its predecessor – Yoshi’s Woolly World for Nintendo Wii U – Nintendo Switch Yoshi’s Crafted World is much flatter in its gameplay. One example is the smiley flowers are easy to find, and even there’s now indicator telling that smiley flowers are nearby, so it’s very rare for you to miss to pick it up. In Yoshi’s Woolly World for Nintendo Wii U however, there’s no such indicator telling the item is nearby and there’s so many hidden secrets to be revealed on each stages.

All in all, Yoshi’s Crafted World is still a great fun and colorful game to play with. I would recommend this to everyone who is looking for a casual, relaxing, fun adventure couch co-op game.

Play better with Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

You can play Yoshi’s Crafted World using a single Joy-Con, however it’s a single Joy-Con controller & buttons are too small for you or the whole ergonomics is just off for you, I do recommend to play the game with a normal-size Nintendo Switch controller, the Pro Controller.
