So by now you probably have installed the Apple-dubbed-as the world’s most advance mobile operating system – iOS 10 and happy about it except one annoyance: the new way to unlock your phone is totally pissed you off.
No more ‘Slide to Unlock’
Apple has finally removed ‘Slide to Unlock’ and for better or worse change it to ‘Press Home to Unlock’. For non TouchID users (eg: iPhone 5, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4th Gen, iPod Touch 6th gen), this ‘Press Home to Unlock’ is a must since they have no other choices to unlock their gadgets – press the home button to bring the passcode screen, type the passcode then phone unlocked, but for TouchID users who before iOS 10, they just need to rest their finger on the TouchID button to unlock the phone and go to Home screen directly versus now on iOS 10 you need to click that TouchID button to unlock the phone and bring you to Home screen, you do have a choice to get rid of this annoying ‘Press Home to Unlock’ thing.

Disable ‘Press Home to Unlock’ – Switch Back to Old-Style Way of Unlocking iPhone
Here’s how switch back to old-style way of unlocking your iPhone – to just lay rest your finger to unlock your phone without the need to click on the button:
- Go to Settings > General > Accessibility
- Scroll down until you find Home Button menu, tap on it
- Switch on Rest Finger to Open. That’s it
Now try to switch off your iPhone and turn it back on, lay rest your finger on the TouchID button, and voila! Now everything go back to normal. No more pressing Home button to unlock the iPhone.
For me personally I like the old-style way of unlocking. What about you?
