Welcome July 2018!
A lot has happen since last month. Obike decision to quit Singapore market has left many Singapore residents – you may included here – mad about it since they (oBike) didn’t give any words about refunding customers’ deposit money, they just kept silent for about a week now, then yesterday (1st Jul 2018) came out with statement on their official Facebook page, “oBike is also working closely with relevant parties on a solution to refund the user deposits. The entire refund process will be announced once these details are finalised”. Which they didn’t indicate when it’s going to be finalised.
To pissed-off oBike users you may want to try the following method to quickly request a refund from oBike: check here.
So here we are. In July 2018, pricing structures are mostly the same like they were back in June 2018.
Here are their offers for July 2018:
Anywheel
Anywheel actually has been around in Singapore for quite sometime, however I spotted them only in city, somewhere near Lau Pa Sat area. Apart from Lau Pa Sat, I see little to nothing, thus I didn’t include Anywheel in my bike sharing price comparisons last few months back. But since in June last month I spotted the number of Anywheel bicycles have grow, I opted to include it in price comparisons.
Unfortunately in July 2018, Anywheel price is still showing price in CNY although I’m physically here in Singapore.
According to the app, deposit is CNY 99, while the charge is CNY 0.5/30 min/trip.
GrabCycle
If for any reasons – with oBike quitting Singapore market – you want to ride oBike bicycles, your choice is with GrabCycle. GrabCycle, so far, supports Anywheel and Obike. So with GrabCycle app, you can unlock any Anywheel and Obike bikes.
On top of pay-as-you-go for $0.50/30 min, here are their prices for July 2018. They remain the same like it was for June 2018.
GrabCycle | Price Per Day |
7 days $1.00 | $0.1428 |
30 days $3.00 | $0.1 |
On top of the passes offered, using GrabCycle without any pass will incur you $0.50/30 min/trip.
G-Bike
No offers yet. Just normal $1/30 min/trip, same like previous month.
Ofo Bike
Unlike last month, this month Ofo doesn’t provide passes for 60 and 90 days.
On top of pay-as-you-go for $0.50/30 min, here are their prices for July 2018.
Ofo Bike | Price Per Day |
7 days $1.59 | $0.227 |
30 days $6.99 | $0.233 |
Obike
In case you don’t know yet, oBike is ceasing its operation in Singapore. Read here. If you have deposit with them and unable to process refund, use the following method describe here to request a refund.
Since the ceasing news last week, oBike has blocked users access to its oBike app. So no more price comparisons for oBike.
Mobike
Overall, Mobike prices for July 2018 remain the same like it was on June 2018.
On top of pay-as-you-go for $0.50/30 min, here are their prices for July 2018.
Mobike | Price Per Day |
30 days $7.99 | $0.267 |
90 days $29.99 | $0.340 |
360 days $89.99 | $0.250 |
SG Bike
No offers yet. Just normal $1/30 min/trip, same like previous month.
And the cheapest goes to…
Well, for short term (7-30 days), GrabCycle is the winner. For medium (60-90 days), currently only Mobike is offering – so take it or leave it. For the long term (360 days and above), Mobike is also currently the only one offering, so take it or leave it.
Here are the details.
Provider | Pass Type | Price Per Day |
GrabCycle | 7 days $1.00 | $0.143 |
GrabCycle | 30 days $3 | $0.100 |
Mobike | 90 days $29.99 | $0.340 |
Mobike | 360 days $89.99 | $0.250 |
As you can see from the price comparisons above:
If you just want 1 week commitment, GrabCycle is the cheapest.
If you want 1 month pass (30 days), GrabCycle is also the cheapest.
Although GrabCycle on paper is the winner for July 2018, but being one of its fleet, oBike, is ceasing and pulling out their bikes islandwide, you may want to consider Ofo – the second cheapest for July 2018.
1 week commitment, Ofo is offering at $0.227/day, while 30 days commitment, Ofo is offering at $0.233/day.
If you want 3 months pass (90 days), Mobike is the only one with the option.
If you want 1 year pass (360 days), Mobike is the only one with the option.
My Recommendation:
Like my recommendation I gave last month, each months, Bike Sharing providers will surely try to come out with even greater promotions to win the crowds. And while it seems now the Bike Sharing market is already saturated with so many providers, but who knows if next months, there’s a new Bike Sharing provider coming to Singapore with FREE-to-ride promotion. Knowing that fact, my recommendation to you is to get only the 1 month pass from GrabCycle. While it’s relatively cheap at $0.1/day, at the same time you don’t need to commit for so long. When next month the new pricing is coming out, you can switch to one with better offer.
To use Bike Sharing in Singapore
You have to first install the app to enjoy the promotion. In case you haven’t installed any of the app, do first install the app. Links provided below.
Once you installed, find the bike and open the app. Scan the QR Code found on the bike to begin rent your bike.
