Here’s how to mute / unmute notification in Microsoft Teams
Notification includes pop-up messages and the sound of the notification. The steps are meant to be done in a computer – the steps on mobile app should be pretty much similar.
1) Login to Microsoft Team app.
2) On top right of the Microsoft Teams screen, next to the minimize, maximize and close button, there’s your initial / name / photo. Click on it and click on Settings to open Settings window.
3) Under Settings, go to Notifications.
4) Under Appearance and sound, you’ll see “Show message preview” and “Play sound for notification”. These 2 settings are applicable to all Teams notifications: chats, mentions, replies, likes and the rest.
Show Message Preview settings:
Show message preview | Description |
---|---|
Turn On | If you want to receive message pop-up for each messages sent to you |
Turn Off | If you don’t want to receive message pop-up for each messages sent to you |
Play sound for notifications settings:
Play sound for notifications | Description |
---|---|
Turn On | If you want to hear message notification for each messages sent to you. Be sure to set your computer volume to a level that you can comfortably hear. If you mute your computer volume, you won’t hear any notification sound from Microsoft Teams despite turning this setting on. |
Turn Off | If you don’t want to hear message notification for each messages sent to you |
5) Alternatively you customize the settings, under “Custom” and edit each of them based on your preferences.
