While there is no more home button doesn’t mean you end up turning on iPhone using only the Power button.
The feature is called Tap to Wake and currently it’s exclusively available only on iPhone X.
In case you are the proud owner of iPhone X and haven’t noticed till today, on every iPhone X (and should be future iPhone), you can turn on the iPhone screen just by double tapping the iPhone screen. Do give it a try yourself.
iPhone X: Activate Tap to Wake
In case it’s not working on your iPhone X, do the following steps to activate it.
Here’s how to set it up.
1. On your iPhone X, go to Settings
2. Navigate to General > Accessibility
3. Under Accessibility, scroll down until you find Tap to Wake
4. Slide it to the right to turn ON the Tap to Wake feature
iPhone X: Turn OFF Tap to Wake
In case double tapping the screen to turn ON iPhone is not your thing, whether you are getting annoyed or just doesn’t want to use the feature, to turn Tap to Wake OFF, follow these steps.
1. On your iPhone X, go to Settings
2. Navigate to General > Accessibility
3. Under Accessibility, scroll down until you find Tap to Wake
4. Slide it to the left to turn OFF the Tap to Wake feature

Apart from Power Button and Tap to Wake, there are other ways to turn ON your iPhone screen.
1. Hey Siri!.
Just call Hey Siri!, your iPhone screen should turn ON with Siri responding to you.
2. Raise to wake.
Hold and bring up your iPhone to your face, it will then turned ON. That’s Raise to Wake feature.
Here’s how to turn ON/OFF Raise to Wake on iPhone X:
a. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness.
b. Find and locate Raise to Wake and switch it OFF.
Bring it all together
While this feature is not entirely new feature – it’s available way back in Android – but this Tap to Wake feature is the first to appear on iPhone, currently exclusive for iPhone X.
