Calling all Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, beginners and starters or even experts, here’s I will show you how to get MagPi – The official Raspberry Pi magazine for $0 aka FREE and legal.
Though to some, it’s pretty obvious how to get the magazines for FREE and legally, but for those who don’t know, I would love to enable them to know that there are legally FREE Raspberry Pi magazines that they can download to satisfy their hunger for Raspberry Pi. I, myself, though have been admiring the small board ever since it was introduced back then, only recently knew that there are FREE mags I can download, so I’m hoping by writing this article, there will be more and more people know how to get Raspberry Pi magazines for FREE and grow fond of the tiny board and in the end, contribute something to the community.
Here’s how to get MagPi – The Official Raspberry Pi Magazine for FREE and Legal.
You can do these steps either on PC/Mac/Linux/Smartphone/Tablet.
If you are using PC/Mac/Linux/Other Desktop OS.
Prerequisite:
Install Adobe PDF Reader. Click here to download if you haven’t got it installed on your PC/Mac/Linux.
Here’s the steps:
1) Open the following URL on your browser: https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/.
2) Select the issue you want by clicking on “Get Issue”.
3) On the pop-up window, click “Download FREE” to start downloading the MagPi issue for FREE.
4) Enjoy the FREE MagPi magazine!

Here’s the steps:
0) Make sure you have installed the MagPi official app (link above). It’s to make you easier finding which magazines/issues you want to download.
1) Open the MagPi app on your Smartphone/Tablet.
2) Inside the app, you can see all the available issues of MagPi. Take note on the issue number you want to download.
3) Now open your Smartphone/Tablet browser and go to this link, https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/.
4) Unlike when you are browsing using PC/Mac/Linux, on Smartphone/Tablet, opening above link, you’ll be directly redirected to MagPi latest issue. And so far I can’t find a way to navigate to see all the available issues – thus the reason why you need to first install the official MagPi app.
5) Go to your browser URL address, change the MagPi issue number on the URL with the issue number you want to download.
Example:
At the time this article is written, the latest available MagPi magazine is issue #72. Opening the link above, will redirect you to https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/72/
If you want to download issue #71, then change the URL to be https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/71/.
If you want to download issue #17, then change the URL to be https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/17/.
6) Once page is rendered, scroll down until you find “Download FREE” button. Tap on the button on your Smartphone/Tablet to download the issue to your device.
7) Make sure you have PDF reader installed to enjoy the MagPi. Most modern Smartphone/Tablet has PDF reader built-in.

So by now, you should be able to download them – the MagPi – legally for FREE. Though I should say, don’t abuse the privilege and consider to give back something to the community or if you find the magazine is worthy, consider buy the issues.
