AirPlay to Chromecast: Showing iPhone screen to Big TV

Doesn’t have AirPlay capable TV or Monitor and doesn’t want to pay $49 for Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter and all you have is the Chromecast stick?

I would like to share this, in case you are in/have the same scenario as I am.

So in short:

• I would like to watch contents on my iPhone
• But on a big TV screen/monitor
• I don’t have any AirPlay capable TV nor monitor
• I don’t have and don’t want to spend $49 for the Lightning Digital AV adapter or Lightning to HDMI cable.
• All I have is my TV/Monitor with HDMI port and Chromecast
• I don’t want to Computer to be involved

In case you are in the same situation same scenario like me, there’s actually a FREE and EASY workaround.

Replica works to mirror your iPhone screen to any Chromecast stick or Chromecast-enabled TV/monitor. And yes, it’s not just run on Chromecast-enabled app, but any apps and games available on the App Store.

The setup is easy, connect to the Chromecast device then start mirroring. The FREE version of Replica doesn’t limit the number of casting. You can cast as many and as long as you want. The only drawback is the FREE version doesn’t support HD. If you need HD, there’s in-app purchase option.

Summary

All in all, I’m happy with Replica – the fact that I can show any apps or games I have on my iPhone to Chromecast seamlessly and I don’t need to spend US$49 to buy Apple dongle nor I need to upgrade my TV to AirPlay enabled TV plus a few days back the developer made HD version of the app FREE for limited time.
