Here’s the cure for YouTube slowness on your Mac, PC, Android, iPhone and iPad

Opening and watching YouTube but feeling the YouTube page to be sluggish, lagging and slow? However when you check your device, the rest of your programs/apps are running just fine. You have tried closing other apps but doesn’t really improve the YouTube performance. When you checked the Task Managers, you also didn’t find any spikes in CPU nor memory consumptions. Were you experiencing that? If yes, well good thing is that you are not alone.
That’s most likely because a new measure put in place by YouTube / Google. So, before you panic, afraid of your device getting virus or faulty, do try the following steps first. If you have done the steps below and the YouTube slowness doesn’t get fix, only then you can panic 🙂
Here’s how the steps to fix YouTube slowness on your device.
Simple: Turn off Adblocker!
| The steps written here are tested on: a) Latest Windows – at the time this article is written is Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview Build 26016. In you are also using Windows and would like to install Windows 11, check the link here to get them installed: Getting Windows 11 and installing on your Computer at JILAXZONE. b) Latest Google Chrome – at the time this article is written is Google Chrome version 120.0.6099.216. Should you be using different version of computer OS (such as Linux / Mac) and/or different version of browser (such as Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari), the steps may be slightly different but should not deviate too much. Step 1) Find Adblocker extension on your browser
On your browser, find the Adblocker extension. On Chrome browser, you can find Adblocker extension on the right side of the URL bar. Depending on which Adblocker extension/program you are using, it may be called something else (E.g.: AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, and many more).
Step 2) Stop the Adblocker from running on YouTube
Left click on the Adblocker extension and click either “Pause” or “Once” or “Always” to stop the adblocker from running.
Step 3) Refresh YouTube
Once the adblocker is stopped, try refresh the YouTube.
Try using the video below – if you find the video run smoothly, then the trick works!
Once done, your YouTube performance should be back to normal. Well, in case it’s not, that means your device may have issues with virus, getting faulty or such.
Bring it all together
YouTube is fighting back by slowing down the YouTube page for people who are using adblocker to block the ads, so while we are waiting for better fix, what you can do is to pause/stop the adblocker from running on YouTube page.
